NQ64, Manchester’s late-night retro arcade bar, has raised a total of over £6,000 for the Disasters Emergency Committee in its recent ‘Game for Ukraine’ drive that was held across all seven of the brand’s venues, bringing together gamers across the country for the all-important cause.
The charity event was created to utilise the arcade bars games for good with revenues from the sale of all games tokens on Sunday 20th March donated to the Ukraine appeal – the more you gamed, the more money raised for vital charities.
NQ64 donated over £6,000 in proceeds to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), an umbrella group of UK charities providing emergency aid and rapid relief to people caught up in disasters and humanitarian crises around the world, specifically the ongoing Ukraine crisis. All seven NQ64 sites, including the most recent opening in Merchant City, Glasgow as well as venues in Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Cardiff took part in ‘Game for Ukraine’, collectively raising an incredible £6,397 in funds for the DEC in just one day.
The DEC have estimated that 18 million are projected to be affected by the conflict, and the charities work with local partners to provide essentials to those who have been displaced such as essential hygiene supplies and emergency food for families. The DEC launch appeals when large-scale disasters hit countries without the capacity to respond and NQ64 decided to play their part, quite literally, by donating revenue from games tokens for one full day.
Welcoming gamers across six cities in seven venues, NQ64 expressed thanks to all those who took part in Game for Ukraine and used the arcade machines like Pac-Man, Time Crisis, Guitar Hero, the dance mat, and Point Blank for good.
