The final bids to buy Manchester United have been submitted overnight by the Qatari Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Radcliffe
The Qatari bid is reported to be in the region of £5 billion,a world record amount for a sports club.
In addition to figure to buy the Club, the proposal also includes a plan to invest a further significant amount of additional capital and infrastructure investment into the Club directly.
The Qatari’s offer is improved from his previous bid, but he will not go anywhere near the £6 billion said to be what the Glazer family are looking for,and is determined not to grossly overpay, according to those with knowledge of the process.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group third bid for Manchester United has also been submitted
He is bidding for a 50 per cent share in the club, leaving the Glazers with a 20 per cent share, viewed as a controversial move which would infuriate large sections of United’s fanbase
The Finnish businessman Thomas Zilliacus says he lodged bids previously but would not submit a fresh offer.
