King Charles has given the first Elizabeth awards to the families of police, fire & other public servants killed in the line of duty.

The idea for the new Elizabeth Emblem came from the fathers of murdered Greatee Manchester Police officers Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone, Bryn Hughes and Paul Bone

Their daughters were murdered by Dale Cregan in Tameside in 2012.

The most recent award recipient today was the wife of PC Andrew Harper, Alicia Harper.

Constable Harper was killed in 2019, dragged along a road after responding to reports of a theft.
