A stalker who followqed his victim abroad has been ajiled for five years in Manchester today

Kyle Weilding aged thirty four of no fixed abode was sentenced to five years in prison for controlling and coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and non-fatal strangulation

The court heard that it started when controlling behaviour from Weilding was made towards the woman for following a man on Instagram demanding that he wanted to know how she knew him years prior to meeting Weilding.

This alongside threatening and aggressive behaviour of punching walls raised genuine concerns for her safety. When he found out his reaction was to hit her repeatedly around the house leaving her defenceless. The horrific attack continued targeting parts of her body leaving her in extreme pain with parts later being caught on CCTV.

His control continued by taking her card and phone away from her and instructed her to lie to work colleagues when asking why she had bruises. The attacks continued in private over the coming months.

After escaping and leaving the area, his torment and abuse continued to the point where she was threatened by Weilding that he would target her and her family members. Further advances and stalking occasions continued along with other threats to be stabbed, including holding her family dog at knifepoint and smashing the windows of the family home.

Another instance resulted in Weilding applying for the same job as her so he could watch and observe her interactions. In a desperate attempt she then fled to a different country and island abroad to work abroad and get more of a physical distance away from him, only for Weidling to track her down and terrorise her even further. The abuse continued over there including repeated attempts to stab and injure her drawing more blood.

Once officers became aware of the abuse Weilding was arrested a short time later after they both returned to the UK and on interview denied any assault.

Detective Constable Ross Sidebottom from our Adult Safeguarding Unit in Trafford said; “Weilding is a person who not only caused torment but horrific abuse and injuries to this woman who now suffers daily with the traumatic consequences of his continued controlling actions.

“I would like to commend and thank her for her extreme bravery in coming forward and making sure we able to get the evidence to convict him for his actions as he was a clear danger to women.

“Now I hope she can start her recovery free in the knowledge he is behind bars as no person should have to suffer the way she did.

“I would also like to remind anyone that we will listen to your concerns and will act to keep you safe. You are never on your own and hopefully this case demonstrates that those who are intent on causing harm to women, your actions have severe consequences.”
