An 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with another vehicle on Manchester Road in Rochdale yesterday evening after police chased a suspected stolen vehicle
A man in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and associated driving offences including aggravated vehicle taking.They remain in custody for questioning.
Police were responding to report of a theft of motor vehicle on William Greenwood Close in Heywood.
The suspect car, a Toyota Aqua Hybrid failed to stop for our officers.
The Toyota then collided with a Volkswagen Up on Manchester Road before coming to a stop
The driver of the Volkswagen Up did not receive any injuries and remained at the scene to assist officers with their investigations.
In-line with normal procedure, referrals have been made to our Professional Standards Directorate and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
