The Environmental Agency has issued this morning eight flood warnings that cover the River Irk .

The warnings which were put ouit at around 7.30 this morning cover Chadderton Fold,Cheetham Hill,Crumpsall Hospital,Kendal Road,Little Green,New Bridge,Rhodes and Middleton and the Vale Industrial Parl

“Rising river levels are expected to cause flooding this morning. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Irk, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around properties adjacent to the River Irk. We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.

“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.”

The warnings mean residents should ‘act now’, with the Environment Agency warning that people should ‘protect yourself and your loved ones’.
