Important improvement works to the Metrolink network will result in the closure of some lines over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

On Saturday (20 April) and Sunday (21 April) there will be no services operating on the Bury line, and on Monday (22 April) services will only run between Piccadilly and Queens Road.

In addition, no services will operate between Exchange Square and Monsall on the Rochdale line on Saturday (20 April) and Sunday (21 April).

During this period a full bus replacement service will be in operation. Passengers can find details of replacement buses and their stops on TfGM’s travel advice page.

The engineering works include essential upgrades to the Crumpsall Metrolink stop in preparation for the opening of the Trafford Park Line in 2020. It will also provide a more frequent service into the city centre for customers using the Crumpsall, Abraham Moss and Queens Road stops.

Head of Metrolink, Danny Vaughan, said: “By combining a number of essential upgrades over the Easter weekend we’re able to minimise the overall disruption to the network.

“We’re urging passengers to plan ahead and familiarise themselves with the bus replacement services to ensure they have a smooth and stress-free journey.”

A number of events will also take place across the weekend, beginning with the sold-out clash between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur from 12.30pm on Saturday.

Departing at midday on Monday, the St. George’s Day Parade will travel from Miles Platting and through Manchester city centre. Roads closures are expected to be in place in the city centre between 11.30am and 2.30pm.
