The Diane Modahl Sports Foundation is continuing to empower young people next week, as their yearly employability and careers fair – ‘Building The Future’ – takes place.
This year the event is being held in two locations on two separate dates: 28th June at Levenshulme High School for Girls (Levenshulme) and 30th June at Cedar Mount Academy (Gorton).

The fair, which is aimed at fourteen to sixteen-year-olds, will provide some of Manchester’s most disadvantaged young people with real practical and hands-on activities across a broad range of industries including health, construction, media, law, military, accountancy, property, the emergency services, digital and hospitality sectors.

Diane Modahl MBE, Co-Founder of Diane Modahl Sports Foundation said: “We are delighted to be re-launching the ‘Building The Future’ Careers Fair which is such an important event for young people in Manchester. We’re really looking forward to welcoming so many great businesses and hope the two-day event will create a number of opportunities for young people as they begin to think about their potential career options.”

Keira McCosh, professional rugby player at Warrington Wolves, said: “Building the Future was born out of a conversation between Diane and myself around wanting to raise the game in terms of engaging young people in a conversation about their future.
“We wanted to create an experience that left our young people feeling inspired and excited for the world of work and open their eyes to areas of industry that they potentially weren’t aware of.

“To see our careers fair grow from an idea on paper to a fully-fledged event is both rewarding and exciting. I’m keen to see how the new format engages a new cohort of students and look forward to watching it develop and grow over the next few years”.
The fair provides an exciting platform for exhibitors to showcase their work and ensures that young people feel all opportunities are equal and accessible.

Exhibitors involved across both days include Future Skills Salford College, Reside, 1111 Group, Knight Knox, 1st Enable, Brandsmiths, Armed Forces, Mazars and No Fuss IT, as well as JD Sports Foundation who are the headline sponsors for the fair.
