Manchester Council’s planning committee have approved plans members for the restoration of The iconic Hotspur Press building in the City Centre

Built as a cotton mill on the bank of the Medlock, The Hotspur Press was repurposed some time in the late 1800’s as a printing works, before becoming a place for local artists’ to set up their studios.

Now the building will converted to become a 595-bedroom student block as part of a 37-storey tower along with commercial units, and a 10,000 sq ft public square.

The conversation is expected to begin next year and will ready for students in 2028
