The government will today publish its Coronavirus Bill in parliament, setting out in full detail the emergency powers it plans to seize to deal with the crisis. The bill is to be debated,and passed without a vote,by the Commons on Monday afternoon.

London could soon be put in lockdown according to various reports this morning.

According to one person briefed on the proposal, there would be a full lockdown of the capital with only one person allowed to leave home at a time, with no entry to local shopping areas. Supermarkets would be guarded by police, while pharmacies would be among the few other shops to remain open. Two officials briefed on the proposals said residents and business would be given just 12 hours’ notice of the new restrictions

Transport for London began the partial shutdown of the London Underground, closing dozens of tube stations from this morning. The 40 chosen stations are those which do not provide an interchange with any other lines
