Chorlton Book Festival is ten years old and this year it is a double celebration as it is the one hundredth anniversary of the opening of Chorlton Library.

The festival, which begins today( 14th Nov) includes awarding winning local author Jackie Kay, and the celebrated play ‘Opening 1914’ by the Edge Theatre.

Twenty three events take place over the next sixteen days including a teenagers writing event with a WW1 soldier and the Ugly Bug Ball.

There is a quiz with local historian Andrew Simpson, a short story writing workshop, a book fayre and the ever popular pub quiz at the Beech.
