Midsummer is always a special time in the gardening calendar and RHS Garden Bridgewater, Salford is hosting events to celebrate throughout the blooming month of June.

BRIDGEWATER LATES – SUMMER SOLSTICE EVENT

Friday 21st June, 6-9pm

This year’s Summer Solstice will be celebrated at RHS Garden Bridgewater with a special midsummer evening event on Friday 21st June.  Visitors are invited to mark the longest day of the year by getting close to nature as they explore the beautiful floral displays and extensive woodlands of the Salford garden at a special event from 6pm – 9pm.  Enchanting live music will be provided by local musical sensation Haydn Owen to help visitors get in the mood for a spiritual experience connecting with the natural world.

Suzy McCafferty, a mental health and wellbeing specialist, will lead a 70-minute session in the garden to help visitors to connect mindfully with their surroundings. This will include sharing of folklore and traditions connected with the solstice. Visitors can join drop-in Qigong sessions by Margaret Gul, offering the opportunity to find harmony, balance and a profound connection to the natural world.

PRIDE IN NATURE – ONE DAY FESTIVAL

Sunday 30th June, 10am-6pm

RHS Garden Bridgewater is to stage a stunning new pride parade around the beautiful gardens as a climax to its annual Pride in Nature celebration on Sunday 30th June.

The one-day festival, which marks the end of Pride month in June, will take place at a variety of locations within the Salford garden between 10am and 6pm. Building on the success of previous events, the day will be packed with talks, workshops, storytelling and top tips from gardening experts.

Celebrating the close connections between the Greater Manchester LGBTQIA+ community and the local environment, events will include Drag Queen Gardeners’ Question Time, Banner-making workshop, Wildflower – a pop-up performance by Curious Arts and a special LGBTQIA+ community discussion. All special events are free with a garden ticket.
