Burglars tied up a man and punched a woman during a home invasion in Heaton Moor last week.

The incident happened around 9.20pm on Wednesday 5 September when men entered the Kingsleigh Road home after going through the garage.

Once inside they tied up a man and attempted to strangle him using a headphone wire before going upstairs and forcing a door a woman was hiding behind.

They demanded money and jewellery from her before punching her four times in the face. They then ran from the house with a laptop and watch.

It is believed the men originally pulled up in a black Volkswagen Golf on Bluestone Drive before going through the garden to get to this house.

Detectives have released CCTV and are urging people to come forward with information.

Detective Sergeant Lee Attenborough, from GMP’s Stockport CID, said: “This was a violent and distressing burglary which has now left a family utterly terrified to be in their own home.

“The men who did this are callous, cold and calculated – to try and strangle an innocent man with headphones is just incomprehensible.

“They are clearly a danger and we need to find them as soon as we can to put them away.

“We have spoken to neighbours, carried out forensics and have been reviewing the CCTV footage.

“We have several lines of enquiries to follow but we also need to hear from the public.

“If there is anything you recognise about this incident, or you suspect someone you know is involved, then do the right thing and report it.”
