Salford City will host Leeds United in Round Two of the Carabao Cup!

The draw was made on Wednesday night, pairing The Ammies with the Whites at The Peninsula Stadium for a repeat of their debut in the competition in 2019.

Salford progressed to the second round after beating another Championship side Preston on Penalties on Tuesday night.

Connor McLennan’s first half brace on his first start put the League Two side in a commanding position, but Ben Woodburn pulled one back for the hosts just before half time.

Shortly into the second half Preston’s Duane Holmes levelled the scores after an error at the back, but the Championship side were denied a winner by a number of excellent Alex Cairns saves.

Meanwhile Bolton Wanderers have been drawn at home to Middlesbrough in Round Two of the Carabao Cup.

Ian Evatt’s side progressed on Tuesday evening by beating Barrow 1-0 in the first round on Tuesday evening, with Zac Ashworth grabbing Wanderers’ goal just before half-time.

Stockport though will not be joining them after losing on penalties to Sheffield Wednesday.A highly creditable effort over 90 minutes saw captain Paddy Madden’s 15th-minute goal give the Hatters, roared on by well over 2,000 travelling fans, a deserved lead – only for their Championship hosts to level with one minute of time added on remaining, before scoring four times from the spot to go through.

And it was the same story for Wigan who lost on spot kicks against League Two newcomers Wrexham in front of the Sky Sports Cameras
