Salford’s City current Mayor Paul Dennett will face three other candidates in the race to be the next leader in the City

Jillian Collinson will be standing for the Conservatives,Sally Griffiths for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition and David Jones for  Green Party

Each registered voter in Salford will receive a City Mayor election booklet with an election address from all four candidates as well as voting information. The booklet will be delivered by post between Friday 19 and Friday 26 April.

Salford residents choose one candidate in each mayoral election Salford City Mayor and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Mayor.

Salford residents also get to vote for a local councillor as a third are up for election – 20 seats – one from each of the city’s 20 wards.

Returning Officer Tom Stannard said: “Candidates have now been announced for the May elections and I would encourage all residents to vote and check they have photo ID.

“The polls open at 7am on Thursday 2 May and close at 10pm.

“Residents now have until midnight on Tuesday 16 April to register to vote, until Tuesday 17 April to apply for a postal vote and Wednesday 24 April to apply for free voter ID.

Those who have not registered cannot vote in the elections and those without valid photo ID can’t vote in a polling station. So make sure you plan today to make your mark and have your say in May.
