Bury Council has written to all headteachers in the borough advising them not to reopen schools on June 1st.
The letter written by Councillor Tamoor Tariq says the govt’s position is “ill-advised and not one we can follow.”
We feel it would “pose an unacceptable risk to pupils, staff & communities of vulnerable people.”
The letter is advisory – schools in Bury can choose to ignore it and re-open on June 1st.
The council have been consulting with schools for the past week and all the schools they spoke to believe they should not reopen according to reports
