The big issue magazine, seen being sold by vendors on the streets of the region is going digital during the Coronavirus crisis.

Its founder John Bird said that due to fears that street vendors could be put at risk the magazine will be available to download.

“With heavy heart I have had to say to Big Issue vendors “your wellbeing comes first, so no selling on the streets. You have to be indoors. Out of harm’s way.” he wrote on twitter this morning.

“Many of our vendors are homeless and living in vulnerable circumstances. We need your urgent help to ensure they have ongoing access to support from The Big Issue at this extremely difficult time.” said the magazine in a statement adding that people could continue to support it online
