Manchester-based commercial film production house, Anattic, has been appointed by The Business Growth Hub to recognise Manchester’s collaborative creative industry.

Titled the Creative Scale Up, Anattic collaborated with integrated agency, Jam_ to delve into Manchester’s creative heritage and evolution, with a focus on the creatives who are shaping the Northern city and exploring what is keeping the resilient city so united.

Featuring an array from Mancunian-based creative businesses and freelancers, including Jam_, drag queen Banksie, and ceramics guru Thomas Longden, Anattic captures the full scope of what it means to be a “creative” in the rainy city.

In the short film, the viewer is taken on a journey through Manchester’s creative heritage and evolution. Focusing on narrative, production, craft, and technique, Anattic approaches its latest film with a spotlight on fluid movement, slow-motion, lighting and sound design. Their collaborative partner, Jam_, an agency with a wealth of experience in creating and executing award-winning campaigns, helped develop the concept, co-write the script and handle the planning and logistics side of the project.

James Copson, Director of Anattic, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have been asked to collaborate with The Business Growth Hub to build a picture of the Manchester creative community that collectively makes the city so iconic. We wanted to highlight the variety of talent and skill the city has to offer so we selected a variety of creatives from different disciplines, including craftsmen, production studios and performing arts”.

Dave Gee, Co-founder of Jam_, who worked closely with Anattic to create the video, said: “We have collaborated with Anattic on a number of projects in the past so we were delighted to be asked to be involved in this project, supporting Manchester’s talented creative businesses. With Manchester’s unique strength and sense of identity, it was important for us to capture that unparalleled charm within our concept and narrative, and showcase a city we know so well.”

Mancunians will be able to spot a series of iconic locations in the city-centre throughout the film like The Mayfield Depot, Old Bank, Northern Quarter, NQ64, Islington Mill, The Sharp Project and more.

Anattic has been working with The Business Growth Hub as part of its digital programme and has benefitted from business advice and support to guide them through the maze of business development.

James continued: “Being able to work with The Business Growth Hub has provided us with invaluable guidance that has streamlined our work and development, allowing us to approach more ambitious projects”.

The Manchester-based commercial film production house creates brand films, commercials, long-form ads and promos and has worked with many Manchester-based companies including Boohoo and Manchester International Festival.
