James Chester has announced his retirement from professional football, but will remain with Salford City until the end of the season.
The 36-year-old has made over 500 professional appearances at all levels of the Football League and on the international stage with Wales.
A graduate of the Manchester United academy, the defender had notable spells at Hull City, Aston Villa and Stoke City before signing for the Ammies in 2024. This season he has made two appearances in cup competitions having battled with injury, however he will remain with the squad to continue learning.
