Altrincham has been chosen to represent the North West as the region’s Best Large Town at this year’s RHS Britain in Bloom UK finals.

The honour follows Altrincham’s performance at last year’s North West in Bloom awards, where the town received the highest mark in the competition’s history on its way to winning the Best Large Town trophy.

National judges representing Britain in Bloom will visit Altrincham on the morning of August 1st.

Volunteers from all walks of life have once again supported the initiative to make the town as clean and presentable as possible. They will accompany judges from RHS as they visit floral displays across the town.

Sarah Walmsley, Altrincham in Bloom Chair, said: “We’re excited to once again represent our beautiful town at the regional Britain in Bloom’s finals.

“Our dedicated team consists of eight friendly volunteers who come from various backgrounds, all of whom are extremely passionate about planting flowers, trees and maintaining green spaces to improve the local environment and foster a sense of civic pride among residents. They’ve all worked incredibly hard to get our town ready for judging day. We’ve all got our fingers crossed!

“As a community-led initiative, support from local businesses and residents is always highly appreciated.

One of this year’s attractions will include an innovative living sign featuring the words ‘Welcome To Altrincham’ spelled out using plants in contrasting colours, located near Station House.
