Afflecks is due to unveil a brand new piece of public art by the legendary Manchester mosaic artist, Mark Kennedy.
Definitely Maybe, Manchester’s only Oasis-themed bar and live music venue, has teamed up with Afflecks and renowned mosaic artist Mark Kennedy to bring a new mosaic of Liam and Noel Gallaghar to Manchester city centre. The piece will be unveiled to the public at midday on the 1st July 2025 to officially mark the start of Oasis season and to commemorate the momentous moment that the band reunite on home ground later this month.
Taking its place on the wall of Afflecks’ building on Tib Street as part of the world famous mosaic wall, the mural joins the display of existing artworks by Mark Kennedy featuring legendary faces associated with the city including Eric Cantona, Karl Marx, Morrissey, Emmeline Pankhirst and Ian Brown amongst others.
As a cultural institution in Manchester, Afflecks is the perfect destination for the new artwork, especially as it is now also home to Definitely Maybe – a bar and shrine to Oasis complete with memorabilia, merch, a cracking soundtrack and live music.
Definitely Maybe opened in December last year and has become a firm favourite within the city’s bar scene. Now, the team is gearing up for the moment when fans from the city and across the country will flock to Manchester to soak in the authentic vibes in the city where it all started.
Paul Gallagher, Definitely Maybe’s founder, commented:
“We have had such a positive welcome in the city since we opened – we have built a great community here, not just for fans but anyone who just loves a good night out. So we couldn’t let this huge occasion pass without marking it with something special. By emblazoning the band on the wall of this iconic building we want to bring something to the city that will really commemorate the moment.”
AJ Martyn, Afflecks’ general manager, added::
“Our mosaic wall continues to attract love and attention from all over the world, and now to unveil a new portrait of two of the city’s most famous sons as we welcome them back to home turf is just the perfect addition to this iconic part of our beloved building.”
Mark Kennedy, mosaic artist, summed up the mosaic::
“The space on the mosaic wall couldn’t be for anyone else. It had to be Liam and Noel. I’m delighted to have worked with Definitely Maybe and Afflecks to bring this to the city.”
Definitely Maybe is the ideal venue for pre-show Oasis vibes and for those who didn’t manage to get a ticket it’s definitely (maybe) the next best thing. On every day that Oasis are playing at Heaton Park, Definitely Maybe will be hosting an all day long gig party, with live music from 10 AM. Tickets are £20 for a 2-hour time slot, with all guests receiving a welcome drink, bucket hat and 10% off merch. It’s the perfect way to get your Oasis fix, right in the city centre.
Want to be the one to unveil the Oasis mosaic to the world? Definitely Maybe is giving one lucky fan the chance to do just that, revealing the artwork for the very first time in front of the crowds. The winner will also bag a £150 bar tab at Definitely Maybe and a £150 Afflecks voucher to spend on merch, music and more. Follow them on Instagram for more info.
