A man has been charged after emergency service workers were abused and one was then assaulted in Mandley Park in Salford.

Derek Mithcell  of Wellington Street West, Salford, has been charged with assault of an emergency worker,being drunk and disorderly in a public place,racial aggravation, public order and violent behaviour in a police building.

He was remanded in to custody and appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Saturday . He was then further remanded to reappear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Thursday 16 April .

When police were called to Mandley Park on Thursday to reports that a man was abusing paramedics, a police officer was then assaulted and their uniform was damaged,a second officer was racially abused and then the man was then violent in police custody.
