Two men left the scene of a robbery in Bramhall yesterday evening empty-handed after they attempted to Rob cash-in-transit staff delivering to Santander on Woodfod Road.

The branch’s glass door was hit and broken before one of the men entered.

Staff who were inside at the time activated the security smoke system and escaped via the rear of the branch – no one was injured but they are, understandably, shaken.

The two are believed to have got into a vehicle that was parked on a nearby service road leading to Maple Road.

Both are described as wearing balaclavas at the time and one of them was carrying a large weapon, believed to be a sledge-hammer.
