Oldham is set to come alive with eerie excitement this October Half Term as a series of frightfully fun events takes over the town centre. From a spooky Halloween Trail to Oldham’s Big Birthday Bash, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Kicking off the Halloween celebrations is the town centre’s Halloween Trail, running from Saturday 26 October to Sunday 3 November. Grab a spooky hunting guide from the Market Hall or Spindles (near Next), and search for Halloween-themed items lurking around town! Once you’ve spotted all the creepy clues, submit your entry card into the post boxes for a chance to win some fang-tastic prizes!

Keep your eyes peeled on the Saturday 26 October for spooky strolling performers who will be out and about, adding extra chills and thrills to the town centre. Make sure you find them, and get some pictures and post it to social media using #LoveOldham – we’ll be sharing the best ones.

Oldham Libraries have got an extra special Halloween spooktacular Small Cinema lined up, screening the classic film, Monsters Inc. on Saturday 2 November, at 2pm at Oldham Library Performance Space. Tickets are £3.30 per person and kids get a free goody bag too.

Also taking place on Saturday 2 November is the Gallery Oldham’s Big Birthday Bash – celebrating the 175th anniversary of the borough. Children can get creative and dive into craft activities or take part in the popular Art Club with artist Fay. Adults can take part in a special birthday celebration and check out the 175 Exhibition in Gallery 3 with a tour by the Collections and Exhibitions working group – with some of the people who have chosen the items.

Then, from 4.15pm, you can watch a screening of County Borough of Oldham Centenary Celebrations 1949. The film, made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the borough, features a year long programme of events to mark Oldham’s centenary – accompanied by a live piano player. It’s a birthday party not to be missed!
