Globally renowned children’s author Sir Michael Morpurgo is supporting this year’s Michael Josephson MBE Charity Ball by giving one lucky donor the unique chance to name a character in his next novel.

Sir Michael Morpurgo is a longstanding supporter of children’s charities, including The Anne Frank Trust, one of the five main beneficiaries of the 2024 Michael Josephson MBE Charity Ball, and has spoken about the impact Anne Frank’s diaries have had on his life from a young age.

The well-known author of War Horse and Private Peaceful is one of Britain’s most loved storytellers having written over 150 books with his latest novel, Cobweb, released yesterday.

By bidding for this incredible auction item, you will not only be supporting children’s and youth charities across the UK, but you will also immortalise the name of a loved one forever as one of the characters within the treasured author’s next novel.

Bids for this incredibly rare prize can be made via the Michael Josephson MBE Charity Ball Silent Auction, which includes over 100 auction prize donations ahead and can now be accessed by visiting www.mjcharityball.com/ ahead of the sold-out event held at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester on the 16th November.

Sir Michael Morpurgo said, “I am so pleased to be supporting the marvellous Michael Josephson Charity Ball. My particular connection is with the Anne Frank Trust, but I can see that all the children’s charities being supported are wonderful causes. I hope you have fun bidding in the auction. I can’t wait to learn the name I’ll be giving to a character in my next book. And please be as generous as you can. Children are our journey to the future. It’s up to all of us to help them on that journey.”
