Nigel Farage is to become the new leader of the Reform Party and will now stand in the General Election

The announcement was made at a hastily convened press conference this afternoon in which its current leader Richard Tice said he would step aside

Farage described the current ekection it is ‘the dullest most boring general election campaign we have ever seen in our lives’ being fought by two near identikit leaders

Farage will stand in the Clacton seat, the only constituency that the previous UKIP party has ever won

Farage told the news conference “I’m coming back [as leader of Reform] for the next five years”

“I (had) thought the rational thing to do was not to stand…..what struck me last week was the number of people coming up to me and saying ‘why aren’t you standing’…but I couldn’t help feeling that somehow they felt I was letting them down…”

He added that he now intends to lead a political revolt

“A turning of our backs on the political status quo.. It doesn’t work.. Nothing in this country works any more.. The NHS.. The roads.. Our public services.. We are in decline”
