After being closed for just over 6 weeks, the Buffer Stops Bar at East Lancashire Railway has reopened on the weekend in time for summer.

The bar and cellar refurbishments have now been completed, and the interior mimics the railway track itself.

Using materials from the railway track for the footrests, and cladding and mirrors to create a carriage-like back wall, Buffer Stops has been made to look as authentic as possible.

The latest EPOS technology will be used at the bar to speed up transaction times, and ensure that happy customers can order and pay with ease.

Buffer Stops is the perfect place to stop after a journey up the line to Rawtenstall and watch the trains roll in and out while situated in the cosy, waiting room style bar.

For those who are after more than a pint, Buffer Stops sells traditional pub snacks to fill a hole.

Jake Fort, manager of Buffer Stops, said: “We’re so pleased to see our doors open in time for summer, and just in time for the bank holiday weekend!

“Rawtenstall has boomed in the last five years, so we’re upgrading our image to keep competing with the growing market.

“The authentic carriage feel inside the bar will make this a hotspot for train enthusiasts and families alike.”

Mike Kelly, Chairman of East Lancashire Railway, said “We’re looking forward to seeing the tables filling up again now that Buffer Stops is open to the public again.

“It’s loved by the local community as a great place to grab a bite to eat and a pint, and watch the trains come into the station, so we’re expecting it to be bustling now it has reopened.

“Outside seating is available for these sunnier days, so pack some sun cream and a hat before coming down!”
