A 71-year-old woman is currently in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after a collision which took place on Lower Leigh Road, Westhoughton yesterday afternoon
Investigators from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are particularly keen to speak to the driver of the HGV who didn’t stop at the scene, as they may be a significant witness to the collision, or have dashcam footage that will assist with enquiries.
A car travelling towards Westhoughton overtook a HGV, subsequently colliding with a car travelling in the opposite direction. A third vehicle then crashed into the back of this car as it came to a holt.
Others involved reported minor injuries.
