Police have confirmed that a 28 year old man was killed after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road and then hit by a second car while lying injured

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday 5th July on Water Street in Manchester city centre.

The first vehicle collided with the pedestrian on the carriageway and then failed to stop.

The second vehicle collided with the pedestrian who was lying in the road after being hit by the first vehicle.

The second vehicle stayed at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and death by careless driving. Enquiries are ongoing.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
