Forget about travelling further afield – all the best of British beach life is coming to Oldham this month.

The Oldham Summer Beach is returning to Alexandra Park, with the promise of being bigger and better than ever before.

The event will open on 27 July and run daily until 1 September – perfect for families worrying how to keep their youngsters entertained during the long school break.

Along with a huge manmade 100sgm beach, the event will also have a whole host of children’s rides and inflatables, including a 400ft long monster assault course, as well as beach games, food stalls and entertainment sessions.

The sessions will be ramped up each weekend thanks to the Kids Club themed parties which will include a range of themes from princesses to Barbie to pirates.

There will be a range of food stalls available, along with a picnic area.

Although visitors can pay on the day, it’s advisable to buy in advance as previous years’ events have sold out.

The beach opens at noon each day and families can enjoy the event right up until 7pm.

Kris Longshaw, who organises Oldham Summer Beach, said it was a great day out for everyone.

“We’ve ensured that the beach is suitable for people of all ages, particularly for those aged between two and 12,” he said,

“This year we’ve added in the monster assault course which, at more than 400ft long, should be a real fun attraction for everyone.

Entrance to the event is only £1, but there is also the option to buy an ultimate bounce wristband which gives access between noon and 5pm to the inflatables at no additional cost, as well as free entrance.

The ultimate wristbands cost £11.99p each and are available at
