A 16 year old boy has died and a second teenager is in a serious condition after a car they were in smashed into a wall in Stalybridge after being persued by police following a suspected burglary.
Police were responding to a report of an attempt burglary on Ambleside, Stalybridge just after 6pm.
Officers followed a vehicle believed to be involved, a VW Golf, which later collided with a wall on Wakefield Road at 6.30pm.
The driver, a 16-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second teenager, a 16-year-old passenger, was taken to hospital by paramedics in serious condition.
Enquiries are on-going and a cordon is in place whilst an investigation takes place.

In line with normal procedure, the incident has been referred to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch and the IOPC.
