Friday 7th March ahead of International Women’s Day, women are called upon to join together and celebrate all things female and empowerment with the Yoga Social Club.
Returning after selling out last year, the live and immersive yoga event is returning to Manchester city centre. This year, the one off class combines empowerment and energy to celebrate female kind, and all with the perfect soundtrack of soothing and serene music from a live string quartet at the stunning and iconic venue of Hallé St Peter’s in Manchester’s Ancoats.
Designed to bring together trailblazers, go-getters, and visionaries, the International Women’s Day yoga event promises to be an unforgettable evening of inspiration, networking, and empowerment. Playing female only music from across the decades, the two hour session will give all who attend the chance to relax and celebrate with friends – both old and new – whilst hearing some classic hits from some of the greatest women in music including Beyoncé, Celine Dion and Roberta Flack.
Yoga Social Club was created in 2023 to reimagine the traditional yoga experience by creating immersive and interactive classes which are designed to give the benefits of yoga whilst creating a social community and building friendships. Now in its second year of business, the classes span Urmston, Sale, Ancoats and Prestwich and the Yoga Social Club has previously been featured on Good Morning Britain.
Included in the two hour session is:
-
1 hour breath work, yoga and meditation session
-
Manchester String Quartet playing music by females from across the decades
-
1 hour networking and wine social (alcohol free versions also available)
-
The chance to connect with 120 incredible women in a relaxed, empowering space
-
Goody bag featuring hand selected gifts to make the evening extra special
Organising the event for its second year running is Yoga Social Club founder Chrissie Whittingham, who said: “International Women’s Day is a date in the calendar that can easily get missed but it’s one that does mean a lot to so many of us and we wanted to celebrate it with Manchester’s biggest yoga event.
“This is more than yoga—it’s a celebration of women, community, and the joy of self-care, happening right here in Manchester’s most iconic venue. From Emmeline Pankhurst, a true Manchester icon, to Marie Stopes and Elizabeth Gaskell, we’re proudly celebrating the women who paved the way for us and continue to inspire us today. We want to take a moment to stop and to celebrate the strength, power, and beauty of women and to do it right here in the heart of Manchester!”
“We’re so pleased to be returning to the Hallé St Peter’s and to bring back our special event with music, movement and networking afterwards – especially after such a brilliant response and selling out last year. It doesn’t matter if you’re not super bendy, or if your handstands don’t ever make it off the ground or if your rhythm is misplaced, yoga is for everyone and for every body so we welcome anyone to come down and join in with us this International Women’s Day.
She added: “This International Women’s Day, we want to celebrate and make sure that every woman feels empowered, not just with the power of movement and their body but also in a friendly and supportive community of others. All are welcome at this class and any of our regular classes across Greater Manchester, and the Yoga Social Club will always be a space that’s inclusive and diverse and open for all.
“The Yoga Social Club has always been about more than just downward dog and warrior poses, we have built a brilliant community across the past two years of operating that has become a network of friends and more. Whether this is your first time joining us or you’re a committed member, we welcome anyone wanting to join us for a celebration of all things female empowerment.”
