This April, Manchester will be illuminated like never before as world-renowned light artist Rupert Newman unveils his first-ever Manchester exhibition, Spaces Up-Above, at Printworks. Step into a breathtaking digital art experience that redefines light and space.
For one month only, witness awe-inspiring, large-scale digital artwork projected across Europe’s largest digital ceiling – an unmissable, free spectacle unlike anything seen before.
Newman’s dazzling, interactive installations have captured audiences in Hong Kong, Venice and Abu Dhabi. Now, he’s bringing his visionary light artistry to Manchester – blending cutting-edge technology with breathtaking digital art to create an immersive, dreamlike experience.
Inspired by the vibrancy of summer, Spaces Up-Above will bathe visitors in a mesmerising display of vivid hues waves, tropical fish, and coral-inspired patterns. Bold colours, hypnotic movement and dynamic visuals will transform the state-of-the-art LED screens into a constantly evolving dreamscape, delivering awe-inspiring moments at every glance.
Running throughout April and the Easter holidays, the exhibition offers the perfect day out for families, art lovers and experience-seekers alike.
Kristian Brennan, Marketing Manager at Printworks, said: “This is art on a whole new scale. Rupert’s work is world-renowned, and now, for the first time, we’re giving our visitors the chance to experience it right here in Manchester – on Europe’s largest digital ceiling. It’s free, immersive, and unlike anything seen before in the Northwest.
Rupert Newman added: “Printworks is an incredible canvas for my work. ‘Spaces Up-Above’ is designed to inspire and transport visitors – a fusion of light, colour, and movement that captures the joy and energy of summer.”
This isn’t just an exhibition – it’s a celebration of creativity, movement, and imagination. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning fan, every glance will reveal something new.
