Residents and staff at Woodend Bupa Care Home opened their doors on Saturday 1st October, welcoming the Altrincham community to join them in toasting their newly refurbished site.

The celebration tied into Silver Sunday weekend; a national day where people of all generations can come together. The team at Woodend Bupa Care Home saw the celebratory gathering as a great opportunity for their residents to get together with family and friends.

Guests enjoyed a performance from local singer Joe Cockx, who sang classic tunes such as Brown Eyed Girl, as requested by staff and residents. They were also treated to homemade cakes and an 80s buffet, courtesy of the care home’s kitchen staff.

All were warmly welcomed to explore the new, modern look of the home, which was completed last month. Residents and staff can now benefit from new rooms, a refreshed lounge and dining areas as well as landscaped garden.

June Powner resident at Woodend Bupa Care Home, commented: “My family came along to the gathering to celebrate with me and it was lovely to see children playing and dancing along to Joe’s songs. My son was very impressed with the refurbishment; they said the new areas looked very glamourous. I also think it looks lovely.”

AC, resident at Woodend Bupa Care Home, commented: “It was lovely to celebrate the refurbishment and it was really good to meet new members of the community while being able to show off our new space.”

Jane Abdoh, Care Home Manager, commented: “It was a fantastic day all round – it was a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and celebrate the official opening of our new refurbishment, help residents build new friendships and celebrate older people in the community. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

Bupa’s newly refurbished Woodend care home is situated on Bradgate Road, Altrincham, and welcomes anyone in need of residential, nursing or dementia care. Residents are offered a full programme of regular and seasonal activities, as well as 24-hour access to highly trained medical and care staff.
