The latest release of Matt Hancock’s WhatsApp message suggest that the former Health Secretary agreed to put pressure on James Daly, Conservative MP for Bury North, if he failed to vote with the government for the Covid tier system.

The messages appear to show James Daly being threatened with the prospect of Government funding for a ‘Learning Disability Hub’ in his constituency being pulled if he rebelled against a Government vote which finally passed with the support of the Labour Party

On the morning of the vote, Mr Hancock messaged his adviser to say: “James Daly is with us”, but Mr Nixon responded with the caveat: “If extra hospitality support is forthcoming”

James Daly says he is “appalled” and “disgusted” at the revelation and that
he was never contacted and that no threat was ever made.
