A brand-new one-day wellbeing festival designed to help Manchester residents switch off and reset is coming to Angel Meadow next month.

On Saturday, 22nd June, Meadowfest will be making its inaugural appearance with a full roster of workshops, taster classes and talks planned to motivate, energise and educate attendees.

The festival kicks off with an hour-long Yoga in the Meadow session hosted by Yoga Alliance certified instructor Kate Tittley before boxing and Brazilian jujitsu classes will help attendees to get an early-morning endorphin rush. All sessions will be organised and taught by fitness instructors and experts from the local community.

An aerial hoop workshop then starts the afternoon for those looking to add to their gymnastic repertoires, followed by activities such as tarot card readings.

The day of wellbeing will finish with an empowerment workshop and Q&A hosted by Moodswings, a Manchester-based charity with a mission to foster mental health and wellbeing in the community, to make sure everyone goes home feeling their very best.

Throughout the day there will be street food and a full bar available at the recently opened Fairfield Social Club, just down the steps from Angel Meadow. Foundation Coffee House, too, is nearby for anyone craving an expertly crafted brew or snack.

A percentage of ticket sales from Meadowfest, organised by FEC as part of its ongoing focus on placemaking within the MeadowSide community, will be donated to Moodswings.

Shilpa Lakhanpal, Asset Manager at FEC, said: “We know that people have busy lives and don’t often get the time they would want to switch off and reset, so we wanted to bring an opportunity to do just that in the heart of the city.

“Meadowfest, taking place in the heart of our MeadowSide neighbourhood, is all about giving people the chance to get outside into – fingers crossed – the sunshine and enjoy themselves with some exercise, tasty treats and the chance to learn something new.”
