The Conservatives have put an amendment in the House of Commons which will require MP’s to vote on whether they want a Full National Inquiry into the Child Abuse gangs as the controversy continues

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservatives wrote: “I was serious when I said it’s time to get justice for victims.”

“So on Wednesday, Conservatives will put forward an amendment to the Children’s Wellbeing Bill to require a full national inquiry into the rape gangs grooming scandal.”

“If the amendment is selected, I hope MPs from all parties will vote to support the inquiry, so we can do right by the victims and end the culture of cover ups.”

Yesterday The government rejected calls for a new national inquiry, saying it will implement the recommendations of the Jay Review.

Speaking on the Today programme this morning Professor Alexis Jay who led a seven-year inquiry into child sexual abuse told the programme that people should get on with” implementing her recommendations and “locally people need to step up to the mark and do the things that have been recommended” .

She added that:

“We’ve had enough of inquiries, consultations and discussions – especially for the victims and survivors who’ve had the courage to come forward,”
