The developer leading the £4bn Victoria North regeneration project in Manchester, Far East Consortium (FEC), is to launch Kingfisher – a new 322-home development in the city’s vibrant Red Bank neighbourhood.

The Hawkins\Brown-designed Kingfisher will house modern one, two and three-bedroom open plan apartments on Dantzic Street that will boast impressive views of Manchester. The 30-storey development joins the recently launched 189-home Falcon at Red Bank Riverside, with more than 2,000 homes set to be delivered in the neighbourhood.

The building has been designed to a high-specification with energy efficient homes and low carbon technology, featuring air source heat pumps and photovoltaic solar panels. The new homes will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, framed by unique perforated panels designed to encourage natural ventilation and to maximise daylight.

Beyond the living spaces, residents in Red Bank Riverside will have access to a separate shared amenity building, The Clubhouse, which will include a residents’ lounge, co-working space, fitness and wellness suite, and rooftop bar and restaurant with outdoor terrace.

Private podium gardens will be available for residents in the buildings flanked by the bustling Dantzic Street and Dulwich Street, which will offer generous public realm and commercial pop-up venues for dining, music and social activities.

Residents will also benefit from Red Bank’s growing reputation as a hotspot for retail, food and drink, with it already home to an abundance of much-loved restaurants, bars and micro-producers. These include Fairfield Social Club, Half Dozen Other bakery, Foundation Coffee, Green Arches Brewery and Bar, as well as the Michelin Guide-listed spatzle restaurant, The Spärrows. Kingfisher will also be just a short walk from FEC’s MeadowSide scheme, which provides a wealth of community events for local residents at Angel Meadow Park.

Kingfisher also sits on the cusp of City River Park, which will become Manchester city centre’s largest park. Greening over 113 acres along the River Irk, the new park will revitalise and connect existing green spaces and woodlands, including St Catherine’s Wood, with new walking and cycling routes.

Andrew Bradley-Nixon, Sales and Marketing Director at FEC, said: “Progress on the UK’s largest regeneration project continues at pace and making Kingfisher available to prospective owners is the latest in a flurry of exciting milestones. Kingfisher is another example of the high-quality homes we’re delivering at Red Bank Riverside, with a high-spec fit-out and an amenity offering that sets it apart from the rest.

“At Red Bank, we’re helping to curate a new neighbourhood with modern leisure and hospitality uses to serve the nature and social-first community that will live here, and Kingfisher epitomises that approach. Homes that are better-connected to nature are something that Manchester has been sorely missing, but the future City River Park will put the city on the map as a leader in this respect.”
