The North West’s Water Provider United Utilities has said that it expects full-year revenue to increase by about 10% after it reported a more than two-fold rise in first-half profits
The Company posted underlying pre-tax profit of £182.9 million for the six months ended Sept. 30, compared with £90.3 million in the year-ago period.
The water supplier has been under pressure after nvironmentalists slammed it for regularly dumping sewage into Lake Windermere.
Louise Beardmore, chief executive, said United was making progress at reducing spills from storm overflows, one of the major causes of dumping by water suppliers.
“By 2030, we will deliver improvements at more than 1,100 overflows across the North West,” she added.
