A man in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The arrests follow a shooting incident in Gorton earlier this month when the victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life changing injuries.

This arrest takes the count up to six in total, with officers from the Major Incident Team securing a charge of attempted murder against a 16-year-old on Sunday 13 October

An 18-year-old remains on bail pending further enquiries.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Louise Edwards from our Major Incident Team said: “10 days have now passed since this incident took place and we have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible. The investigation is progressing quickly and today we have made two further arrests as we seek justice for the victim.

“Work is ongoing to recover firearms throughout Greater Manchester, with nearly 250 having been recovered in the last three years. The recoveries will have undoubtedly prevented other critical or fatal incidents.
