Two people have been jailed for over thirteen years over their part in the death of a pedestrian hit by a car in Bury
Faizaan Haider aged 25 of Mosley Street, Bury, was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death whilst driving uninsured. He has been jailed for nine years and three months. He was also disqualified for three years until a further test passed, extended for four years seven months.
Suaiel Haider aged 44 of Langdale Mews, Bury, was found guilty of perverting the court of justice. He has been jailed for four years and three months.
Both had attended a wake in Bury back in November 2021 and over the course of the afternoon, both are captured on CCTV consuming alcoholic drinks, including shots.
Shortly after 6pm, Faizaan Haider is seen to get into his BMW and leave the venue.
Later that evening, at around 9:30pm, Faizaan and Suaiel Haider are seen getting back into a BMW on Hardman Street, Bury.
Four minutes later, they are involved in a serious collision on Walmersley Road.
The victim, Gavin Andrews, entered a takeaway on Walmersley Road. As he exited with his food, the car, which was being driven by Faizaan Haider, collided with him at high speed.
They left the scene, and minutes later they’re seen setting the car alight on Falshaw Drive
