Two men have been arrested following the double stabbing in Levenshulme yesterday evening

The men, both in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Two males – aged 16 and 20 – were taken to hospital with serious injuries, following the incident on Rushford Street and Purcell Street

They remain in hospital but police say their injuries are described as not life threatening or life changing.

Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald of the City of Manchester division, said: “We understand the concerns of residents and want to reassure the community that we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat.

“Two males have received injuries as a result of this incident and are being treated in hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

“We take any type of violence very seriously and will not tolerate it on our streets.

“You may notice an increase in patrols of officers in the area. Please do not hesitate to stop to them, they are there to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
