The Transport Secretary Louise Haigh has resigned
Her resignation comes after she admitted she pleaded guilty after she incorrectly told police that a work mobile phone was stolen in 2013.
In her resignation letter she said it was a ‘mistake’ and that she was sorry to leave under these circumstances but said that she doesn’t want to be distraction
‘I am sorry to leave under these circumstances but I take pride in what we have done’
‘I inevitably be a distraction from delivering on the work of this government and the policies to which we are committed’
Keir Starmer thanked Haigh for her time in government, adding: “I know you still have a huge contribution to make in the future.”
