Trafford Centre is inviting local critters to take advantage of its new ‘Insect Inn’, which can house up to 10,000 resident bugs.

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement, this eco-friendly initiative not only supports biodiversity but also raises awareness about the small steps people can take in protecting our local ecosystem.

At 4.5m long and 1m tall, the Insect Inn spells out ‘Trafford’ and is strategically located on one of the centre’s many green spaces, opposite Marks & Spencer.

Constructed using regenerative timber, the structure provides a safe habitat for essential pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, as well as other insects like ladybirds and woodlice.

Simon Layton, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, said: “We’re buzzing to announce our latest launch at Trafford Centre, as we welcome 10,000 bugs to check in to our delightful Insect Inn – an initiative that will not only enhance our local landscaping, but create a space that supports wildlife.

“This is just one example of our broader biodiversity efforts here at the centre, which includes energy-efficient lighting, recycling initiatives, and the promotion of eco-friendly businesses within our centre. At the Insect Inn, it’s safe to say we’ve truly rolled out the red carpet – or should we say the green carpet – for our tiny guests!”
