The fate of Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda plan is in the balance as a crunch vote looms after two Tory deputy chairmen resigned to join the biggest Conservative rebellion of his leadership

The two Tory vice chairs, Brendan Clarke-Smith and Lee Anderson, and the PPS Jane Stevenson, quit their posts in order to back the rebels.

The rebel amendments from Bill Cash and Robert Jenrick allowing the government to ignore international law and block appeals were defeated.

However sixty Tory MP’s voted for the anendment which was only defeated with the help of Labour

The third reading of the bill takes place today and with Labour expected to vote against it will take only 33 Tory MP’s to inflict defeat on the Prime Minister
