A renowned family lawyer with national acclaim has taken up a new role with Aaron & Partners – as the business continues to grow its presence in Altrincham.

Caroline Cockill-Guy has become Legal 500-listed Aaron & Partners’ new Family Law Partner, in what’s been described as a “big statement of intent” for the firm’s local expansion.

Caroline, who qualified as a solicitor in 1999, has been practising law for 25 years, and is an industry-leading specialist in complex, high-asset financial cases, including many in the agriculture and farming sectors. Caroline also specialises in complex private law children disputes.

She has joined the business from Butcher & Barlow and will focus on helping Aaron & Partners continue to grow its presence across key regional areas such as Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Shropshire.

Caroline said: “I’ve looked up to Aaron’s for a long time and have always been impressed when crossing swords with now-colleagues on multiple occasions at the Family Court.

“I knew that if I was going to move to another law firm, it had to be the right move. And I’m pleased to say I think this is the perfect fit. The team are absolutely lovely, and everybody’s made me feel very welcome.

“I’m now excited to bring my experience to the table – spearheading our growth in the region and being part of a talented team.”

Caroline is a member of Resolution, a national a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way. Caroline receives frequent recognition on the national stage for her work in the family law space – including in the prestigious Legal 500 rankings.

Caroline is also a passionate supporter of Gingerbread, a charity providing expert advice and practical support for single mums and dads.

She will be based at Aaron & Partners’ Altrincham site, which was opened in 2022 – another milestone in the firm’s long-term growth strategy. Services provided from the office on Stamford Street include business immigration, dispute resolution, commercial property and family law.

Caroline added: “It’s a pleasure to be coming to work in Altrincham and aiding Aaron’s ambitions to expand here.

“I lived in the area for 30 over years, so it really does feel like I’m coming home.”

Simon Magner Mawdsley, Partner and Head of Family Law at Aaron & Partners, added: “Caroline’s appointment is a big statement of intent on our behalf but it’s a senior hire we think will help enhance our services and add tremendous value to our client base.

“Caroline is going to be a key catalyst for our growth in Altrincham as well as other regions where we already have a strong presence, including Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Wirral. Her impact will be something we will all benefit from at Aaron & Partners and underlines our commitment to be recognised as one of the best law firms in our space.”
