A play which explores crucial themes of the here and now is coming to The White Hotel next Tuesday and Wednesday (8th & 9th April).
The evening will include live score, an expansive set and a roster of cast members who’ve toured with the likes of The National Theatre and have performed on screen with everyone from Stephen Graham to Saorsie Ronan.
The play will treat Manchester audiences to more of the original new theatre that the venue prides itself in showcasing. At times chilling and at others dripping with gallows humour, A Quiet Room is a must for audiences who like their drama to keep them guessing. For fans of the plays of Martin McDonagh, Harold Pinter and David Mamet, this staging is full of lively energy and mercurial plot that keeps the audience firmly on their toes.
In Abbott’s two act drama, we explore the ubiquitous perils of the bystander. The protagonists witness a brutal act and the resulting narrative focuses upon their unravelling.
Four individuals, portrayed by actors Nick Pearse , Paddy Stafford , Tommy Garside and Ethan Simpkin have been assigned an absurd task, to remain in a room for two weeks observing anything and everything that unfolds on their watch.
But what is the purpose of their work? How much of what they see is deliberate, even planned? What do the changes they monitor mean to the mysterious organisation for which they work, and even more, to themselves.
