A Closure Order has been successfully secured on a Waterhead property after the address was identified as a drug dealing hotspot.

Oldham Council took action after residents told us they’d witnessed drug dealing outside 2 Talbot Close at all hours of the day and night, including when taking or picking their children up from school.

Warnings had been issued but the criminal and anti-social activities had continued.

When these were ignored – and to protect the public from further issues – the council, supported with evidence from First Choice Homes Oldham and Greater Manchester Police, secured the closure order at Tameside Magistrates Court.

The Closure Order prevents anyone from entering the property for a three-month period and will provide much needed respite to the local community who had been subjected to ongoing crime and anti-social behaviour.

If anyone breaches the order they can be arrested and face an unlimited fine and/or up to six months in prison.

A local resident said: “This is the best Christmas present I could have.”
