A Manchester man has been jailed for three years after police found three firearms in his house

Eighteen year old Matthew Alfredo  of Wendon Road, Manchester pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of a firearm.

A search of his home on Horace Barnes Close in October last year saw officers locate what appeared to be a black handgun wrapped in a cloth and placed into a shoebox in his bedroom.

Alfredo was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

Following the arrest and the forensic recovery of the firearm, officers then further discovered what appeared to be a sawn-off shotgun and a shotgun – these were again located in the wardrobe of the bedroom.

Alfredo was then further arrested on suspicion of these additional offences.

Officers later recovered the DNA of another individual from the handgun.

Detective Constable Sardar, of our Challenger Team, said: “Thanks to our proactive officers’ excellent work, we’ve managed to take three viable firearms off the streets and put one dangerous offender behind bars.

“For each gun that we recover, that’s a potential life saved, or firearms incident prevented. Our relentless pursuit of those involved in serious violence and criminality continues.
