The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has ruled out a May general election

Interviewed by ITV West Sunak said

“In several weeks on May 2 we have elections on local issues, police and crime commissioners, mayors. There wont be a general election ON THAT DAY”.

The announcement follows days of growing speculation that he could hold a snap poll

Labour’s National Campaign Coordinator Pat McFadden said:

“Rishi Sunak should stop squatting in Downing Street and give the country what it desperately needs – a chance for change with a Labour government. The Prime Minister needs to finally come clean with the public and name the date of the election now.”
